Merchant Fees on the Rise

Looks like the friendly folks at Visa and Mastercard are set to inflate the rates they charge merchants ("interchange fees") when customers use premium and/or perk credit cards:

WSJ.com: "Merchants Balk At Credit-Card Fees "

No wonder Visa, Mastercard, and all the banks have been furiously advertising their premium cards. Seems like every internet page I visit has an ad for Visa's new Stupendous SkyHigh Airline Miles Gold Card, or Mastercard's Hyper-Dividend Platinum Smorgasboard Plus Extreme.

Makes sense now, doesn't it?
