Free Financial Planning Course

Thanks to a hefty grant from the CFP Board, the University of California at Irvine is offering a free online course that's certainly worth a look:

Univ. of Cal / Irvine: Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning

And this is no shoe-in, finish-in-one-evening undertaking, either. The UCI website says students should expect to invest 25 to 30 hours in the course.

Back in late 2004, I had a great time taking the Fundamentals of Financial Planning course at Florida State. The curriculum in this Cal-Irvine course looks very similar ... but here you don't have to pay $495 to get it, as I did.

Hat tip to Greg Karp and his Spending Smart blog for pointing me to this!
